A Kosovo court has sentenced former Pristina mayor Shpend Ahmeti to two years in prison for failing to declare €172,600 in assets.
He was also fined €5,000. The sentence will take effect only after the ruling becomes final.
Prosecutors said Ahmeti failed to report cash deposits made between 2018 and 2022. He denied wrongdoing and said the money came from his family.
The court rejected a request to confiscate the €172,600.
Ahmeti is the first Kosovo public official to receive a prison sentence for an asset declaration offence.
