Court jails four in crypto pyramid case

FIER, Sep 17 (TemA) — A court ordered 60 days’ custody for four suspects in an online crypto pyramid. Two others must report to police. Two more are wanted.

Prosecutors say the ring answered to a coordinator they called “Professor,” identified by detainees as Leo Smith, a British national. He is under investigation.

The “XUEX” operation hit 83 homes and businesses across Fier, Tirana, Dibër, Berat and Gramsh.

Investigators say the scheme ran through closed Telegram groups, where recruits were coached to “invest” in USDT and TRON on the promise of big returns. It was a classic pyramid: bring at least five new people to boost your payout, the top tiers cashed out, and most participants lost their savings.

The case continues. Police are hunting the fugitives.
