Athens, January 4, 2025 – Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulatos, leader of the Orthodox Church of Albania, remains in stable health, according to doctors at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens.
The Archbishop, who was admitted to the hospital after battling a seasonal virus, is under the care of specialist physicians. Despite a history of various health issues, medical staff have confirmed that his condition is not critical and that he is responding well to treatment.
The Orthodox Church of Albania reassured the faithful in a statement, saying, “His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios, is stable and receiving specialized medical care. Doctors are closely monitoring his progress.”
Anastasios, who has played a key role in revitalizing the Church in Albania following years of repression, was initially hospitalized in Tirana before being transferred to Athens for more advanced diagnostics on January 3.
The Church has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support from the community, emphasizing the Archbishop’s resilience in facing health challenges. Further updates on his condition are expected in the coming days.
