Prime Minister Edi Rama has mocked protesters against the disputed Zvërnec coastal project, accusing them of leaving rubbish behind while claiming to defend nature.
In a social media post, Rama said demonstrators who went to the area to protect flamingos should not drive their cars onto the beach or leave beer cans behind.
He said vehicles near the shore could disturb the birds and damage the area.
The comments came after another protest against the planned tourism development near Zvërnec.
Residents and environmental activists say the project could harm the coastal landscape and wildlife.
