Prime Minister Edi Rama has told residents on Albania’s coast that a disputed resort project will go ahead, despite protests over land and environmental concerns.
Speaking in Zvërnec, Rama said the government could not decide private property disputes linked to the project.
He said those cases must be settled by the courts.
Rama said he did not know what agreements investors had reached with landowners in the area.
He drew a distinction between the planned development on Sazan island, which involves public land, and the Zvërnec site, which he described as private land.
Rama said protests would not be enough to cancel the project.
