PM says Iran is fuelling resort protests

Prime Minister Edi Rama has accused Iran of helping spread disinformation around protests against a disputed luxury resort project on Albania’s coast.

Speaking at the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat, Rama said false claims were being circulated about the project, including that it was linked to a plan to bring Palestinians from Gaza to Albania.

He described it as a hybrid attack and said fake videos had been used to amplify the controversy.

The project, linked to Jared Kushner, has drawn protests over environmental damage, land ownership and transparency.

Rama said there were also people with genuine concerns, but insisted there was no reason to stop the project.
