EU demands irreversible justice reform

A senior European envoy has warned Albanian officials that judicial reforms must remain completely independent and impossible to reverse.

Speaking to top legal administrators on Thursday, European Ambassador Silvio Gonzato stated that national courts must defend public rights instead of serving a powerful political minority.

The diplomat delivered the warning during an official review of the government's six-year strategy to modernize the legal system.

European authorities use this monitoring framework to verify whether judges operate with integrity and without political interference.

Gonzato insisted that building autonomous and accountable court institutions is the only way to guarantee national stability and achieve European integration.
