Tirana, July 21, 2024 - Lulzim Basha, leader of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, has unveiled a bold tax reform aimed at easing the financial strain on Albania's middle class and businesses. In a recent social media post, Basha reaffirmed his commitment to a 9% flat tax, a pledge first announced at the party’s Platform Assembly on June 1.
The economic plan features a 9% flat tax on corporate profits, personal income, and dividends, even extending to freelance professions. Basha believes this reform will invigorate entrepreneurship, drive economic growth, and improve the quality of life for Albanian households.
"The high cost of living, excessive taxes, government overreach, and corruption are pressing issues for every Albanian," Basha stated. "Our plan, with its low taxes, effective administration, and transparency, seeks to unlock the country’s potential, increase employment, bolster the middle class, and enhance the income and purchasing power of Albanian households. Albania deserves better."
A video accompanying Basha’s post features a young engineer highlighting the heavy fiscal burden on the middle class. Basha contends that this situation represents a government tyranny that must end swiftly.
"We will end the oppression of the middle class and Albanian businesses," Basha declared. "By implementing a 9% flat tax on profits and personal income, we will empower entrepreneurs and freelancers, leading to economic prosperity for Albanian households and the nation as a whole."
