Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić says he will resign within weeks, forcing early elections after months of anti-government protests.
Vučić announced the move at a rally of supporters in Belgrade.
“I will be president for only a few more weeks, and then I will resign,” he said.
His second term was due to run until next year.
Vučić has dominated Serbian politics since becoming president in 2017.
His government has faced months of mass protests after the deadly Novi Sad railway station collapse.
The disaster became a focus for public anger over corruption, accountability and the way Serbia is governed.
