Serbia has opened an investigation into claims that students planned to fake a sonic weapon attack at a mass protest in Belgrade.
The case stems from a 15 March rally, when part of the crowd suddenly scattered in panic. Some protesters later said police had used a sonic weapon against them.
President Aleksandar Vučić called the allegation a planned attack on the state.
Prosecutors now say documents seized in another case point to a student meeting where a possible simulation was discussed.
Police have been ordered to identify and question those at the meeting, as well as people who publicly claimed the weapon was used.
Russia’s FSB security service has said sound devices owned by Serbian police were not used.
