A senior Bosnian lawmaker has asked the Constitutional Court to block a new Republika Srpska law, warning that it could create a separate digital ID system inside Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Kemal Ademović, deputy speaker of the state parliament’s upper house, said the law gives the Serb-led entity powers that belong to Bosnia’s state ID agency.
He said Republika Srpska was trying to set up its own digital wallets, electronic signatures, certificates and links to foreign systems.
Ademović called the move a “silent coup” and said it repeated measures already struck down by the Constitutional Court.
He also asked the international peace envoy’s office to intervene, but said it had not responded.
Ademović warned that two ID systems could create legal confusion and damage Bosnia’s digital economy.
