Pristina bus operators protest as payment crisis deepens

TIRANA, Nov 24 - Private bus operators in Pristina stopped services on Monday and held a protest, saying they have not been paid by the city for months. Staff from the public transport company also joined the action, warning that the capital’s bus network could soon shut down.

Mayor Përparim Rama supported the protest and said the city cannot release funds because the central government has blocked municipal finances after the local budget failed to pass. He called for urgent intervention to avoid a full transport collapse.

Operators said they will continue protests until overdue payments are made.

In a separate dispute, workers at Kosovo’s public broadcaster RTK began a daily strike over unpaid salaries, adding pressure on institutions already affected by the budget impasse.
