Montenegro investigates citizenship grant to Kosovo businessman

Montenegro’s special police have questioned former prime minister Dritan Abazović over a decision to grant citizenship to a Kosovo businessman shortly before his government left office.

The former interior minister was also questioned.

Prosecutors are examining whether officials abused their positions.

The citizenship was approved after positive assessments from the Finance Ministry and the national security agency.

Abazović said he gave a statement as a citizen and declined to discuss details.
