Kosovo broadcaster staff protest over unpaid wages

Staff at Kosovo’s public broadcaster have protested after receiving only half of their June salaries.

Workers at RTK, the country’s state-funded radio and television service, demanded immediate payment of the rest of their wages.

Unions said the delay was hurting staff and their families, and warned of further protests from Monday if the money is not paid by Friday.

RTK’s acting director, Zana Spahiu, said last week that 50% of salaries had been paid and that the rest would follow this week.

The dispute adds to pressure on RTK, which has faced repeated financial and management problems.
