Greek leader says Turkey still threatens war as US weighs F-35 deal

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis declined to comment directly on a possible US-Turkey military deal involving F-35 fighter jets during the NATO summit in Ankara.

President Donald Trump said at the start of the summit that he was lifting sanctions and considering allowing Turkey back into the F-35 programme.

Mitsotakis said NATO should be based on good neighbourly relations and noted that Greece still faces what it describes as a threat of war from Turkey.

He said the concerns of all NATO allies must be taken into account and that disputes should be resolved through cooperation and understanding.
