Tirana among Europe’s least affordable capitals

Tirana has been ranked among Europe’s least affordable capitals for a family of four, according to a report cited by Monitor.

The report says a household with two adults on average wages would spend about 89% of its monthly income on basic living costs.

That puts Tirana second in Europe for cost pressure, behind Lisbon.

Tradingpedia compared 37 European capitals using average net wages and monthly living costs.

For Albania, the report uses a net monthly wage of €760.

A family with two working adults would have €1,520 a month, while estimated monthly costs for four people reach €1,353.

Tirana is also less affordable than nearby capitals including Skopje, Belgrade and Podgorica.

The report did not include Kosovo.
