Tax office wipes €215m in old debts

Albania’s tax office has cancelled €215m in unpaid debts under an amnesty for old tax bills.

The tax administration said 25,005 taxpayers had benefited from the measure.

It applies to unpaid tax debts from before 31 December 2014.

Officials also said €91.6m in unpaid tax fines had been cancelled for more than 105,000 taxpayers.

The tax office said 30 June 2026 is the final deadline to qualify for other parts of the amnesty.

Taxpayers must pay the required amount to get 50% of their original tax debt cancelled, or submit missing tax declarations to have fines removed.

People convicted of tax or customs crimes, or under investigation or trial for such offences, are excluded.
