Albanian films screened in Madrid

Four Albanian films were screened in Madrid during a two-night programme at the Círculo de Bellas Artes, one of Spain’s leading cultural centres.

The event, called “Here Be Dragons: Five Decades of Albanian Cinema”, brought together films from different periods of Albanian film history.

It opened with Mark Cousins’ documentary “Here Be Dragons”, which looks at Albania’s film archives and the need to protect them.

The programme also included Saimir Kumbaro’s “The Death of the Horse”, from the final years of Albania’s state film studio.

The second night featured Genc Përmeti’s contemporary film “Leaving Eden” and Xhanfise Keko’s classic “When a Film Was Being Shot”.

The event was organised in partnership with the Albanian embassy in Spain.
