More than 20% of young Albanians were neither working nor studying in 2025, according to INSTAT.
The figure covers people aged 15 to 29 who are outside work, school and vocational training. Of this group, 38.5% were looking for a job, 1.6% had stopped looking, and 19.5% were out of the labour market because of family duties.
Another 40.4% were listed under “other” reasons.
Youth unemployment remains far higher than the national rate. Overall unemployment stood at 8.4% last year, while unemployment among 15- to 24-year-olds was 21.5%.
INSTAT also reported a rise in employment among people over 65, from 119,862 in 2024 to 130,274 in 2025. Most are small farmers counted as employed under the official methodology.
