Albania’s tourism sector still depends heavily on the summer season, with July and August accounting for 42.4% of all tourist overnight stays in 2025.
Eurostat data show that accommodation facilities in Albania recorded about 9.7 million overnight stays last year.
August was the busiest month, with 23.4% of the annual total. July followed with 19%.
The season is wider than those two months. June and September also brought strong numbers, meaning the four months from June to September accounted for about 70% of all overnight stays.
The winter months remained weak. January and February together made up only 4.7% of the annual total.
The difference was sharp. Albania recorded about 2.26 million overnight stays in August, compared with about 226,000 in February.
Eurostat listed Albania among Europe’s more seasonal tourism markets, along with Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece and Montenegro.
The concentration creates pressure on hotels, services and local infrastructure during summer, while leaving much of the sector underused in winter.
