Albania projected to outpace EU growth through 2031

Albania is expected to grow faster than the European Union and the eurozone through the end of the decade, according to IMF projections.

The IMF forecasts average annual growth of 3.19% for Albania from 2027 to 2031.

That is above the projected average of 1.2% for the eurozone and 1.4% for the European Union.

Europe as a whole is expected to face slow growth, held back by ageing populations, high public debt, weak productivity, energy costs and geopolitical uncertainty.

Smaller economies are expected to grow faster. Malta leads the IMF ranking with projected annual growth of 3.96%, followed by Kosovo at 3.95% and Ukraine at 3.78%.

Serbia is projected to grow by 3.52% a year, while Moldova is forecast at 3.5%.
