Albania launches “Future Now” initiative to promote tech innovation

TIRANA, 30 May 2025 – Albania has launched a new national initiative, “Future Now,” aimed at strengthening its innovation ecosystem and attracting global investment, Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced at the ACT NOW 2025 summit in Tirana.

Albania has unveiled “Future Now,” a new initiative designed to position the country as a regional innovation hub and promote its growing digital ecosystem on the global stage.

Announced by Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja at the ACT NOW 2025 summit, the plan builds on recent progress in digital infrastructure, foreign partnerships, and startup activity.

Gonxhja said Albania’s competitive edge lies in its young talent pool, low operational costs, and expanding digital infrastructure. He highlighted the recent growth in digital nomads, new AI and cybersecurity programs for SMEs, and the establishment of two EU-backed innovation hubs.

Institutions such as Plug & Play, Tumo Center, and École 42—now operating out of Tirana’s transformed Pyramid—are strengthening education and digital entrepreneurship, he said.

The ACT NOW 2025 summit gathered policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors from across Europe to discuss innovation strategies and regional cooperation.
