Albania and the United Nations have signed a five-year plan worth an estimated $227m to support development across the country.
The agreement, covering 2027 to 2031, was signed in Tirana by Deputy Prime Minister Albana Kociu and UN Resident Coordinator Ingrid Macdonald.
It will focus on better health, education and social support, greener economic growth, stronger institutions, justice and human rights.
The UN says about $84m has already been secured. The plan will bring together 20 UN agencies and is designed to support Albania’s reforms and its path towards EU membership.
It will also target communities that often face the biggest barriers, including Roma and Egyptian communities, people with disabilities, young people, migrants and rural residents.
