Albania has named veteran journalist Eni Vasili to lead its national broadcaster amid regional scrutiny over press freedom.

TIRANA, April 27 (TemA) – Prominent Albanian journalist Eni Vasili has been appointed Director General of the country’s national broadcaster, RTSH, following a competitive selection process.
Vasili, known for her political talk show Open, was elected by RTSH’s governing board and will serve a five-year term. Her appointment comes amid broader concerns in the Western Balkans over media independence and the role of public broadcasters.
The leadership change at RTSH is seen as a key test for Albania’s commitment to press freedom as it continues its EU membership bid.
