Two killed as bus overturns on main highway

Two passengers have been killed and 17 others injured after a bus overturned on one of Albania’s main roads.

The bus was travelling on the Durres-Tirana highway, the key route linking the country’s main port city with the capital. It was operating on a service connected to Berat, in southern Albania.

The injured were taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana.

The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed. Early reports suggest the driver may have lost control before the bus left the road and overturned.

Police are investigating.
