Strong storms return Friday with 85 km/h winds

Strong winds and heavy rain will return to Albania on Friday, with the south expected to face the worst conditions.

Forecasters said storms would begin along the western coast before spreading across most of the country.

Wind speeds are expected to exceed 85 kilometres per hour in Vlora, Saranda, Gjirokastra and Korça.

Another period of strong winds is forecast for Monday as colder air moves in from Europe.

The warning comes two days after storms killed an electrician working to restore power and a fisherman.

The same weather caused widespread damage, particularly in southern Albania.
