Protesters clashed with police outside Albania’s parliament on Thursday after trying to break through a security cordon before a plenary session.
Police used pepper spray, and several protesters were escorted from the area. Demonstrators also threw eggs and flour at lawmakers’ cars and police officers, including the vehicle of parliament speaker Niko Peleshi.
The protest is part of a 32-day campaign against a planned investment project in Zvernec, on Albania’s southern coast, and includes calls for Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign.
