Prosecutors examine money trail in coastal land deal

Albania’s special anti-corruption prosecutors are investigating land transactions linked to a disputed coastal tourism project near Zvërnec.

The case covers suspected money laundering, criminal organisation and document forgery.

No one has been named as a suspect.

ABC News reported that prosecutors had identified suspicious financial transactions from late 2025 into 2026.

It also reported that about $195m in payments linked to the land deal has been seized.

The investigation is also looking at ownership changes and court decisions involving land that remains under legal dispute.
