Inspectors have warned that swimming pools could be shut down if they fail safety rules, after a 15-year-old boy died at a pool in Gjirokastër.
Chief inspector Dashnor Sula said the case would be checked to see whether the operator met the legal conditions to run the site.
He said any business found in breach could face fines, suspension or closure.
The warning turns the teenager’s death into a wider safety test for leisure venues ahead of the summer season.
Sula also said inspectors would act against businesses damaging rivers and polluting public areas.
He said Albania’s inspection system would be changed to reduce overlap between agencies and hold negligent inspectors responsible.
