Berisha says US ban is lifted, but State Department notice remains online

Albanian opposition leader Sali Berisha says the US entry ban imposed on him and his family has been lifted.

His Democratic Party said he was informed after a phone call with the US embassy in Tirana.

Gazeta TemA said it asked the embassy for confirmation and was referred to the State Department.

No official US confirmation has been published so far.

The State Department’s 2021 notice declaring Berisha ineligible for US entry over alleged significant corruption remains publicly accessible.

There is also no new public statement confirming that the designation has been removed.

It remains unclear whether the case involves a full reversal of the ban or a possible visa-related easing.
