Main suspect of the murder of Albanian businessman remanded in custody

Two days after the extradition from Morocco to Albania, the Portuguese national, Ruben Saraiva, who’s the main suspect in the execution of Ardian Nikulaj in Shengjin in April 2023, appeared before Lezha court today.

The suspect denied having anything to do with the murder in question. According to him, he didn’t know the victim and that he had arrived in Albania for holidays.

The hearing only lasted a few minutes and the Portuguese was remanded in custody.

The suspected murderer of the Albanian businessman, Adrian Nikulaj, who was gunned down on April 19 in his bar in Shengjin, was extradited from Morocco on Sunday.

Moroccan police managed to identify the location of the 28-year-old Portuguese man, Ruben Saviara in Rabat.

The Albanian businessman Ardian Nikulaj, 51 was shot as he was making a phone call while sitting at a table in his hotel on April 19. The gunman, who was identified as Ruben Saviara was wearing a crash helmet and hi-viz jacket. He burst in and shot him six times before fleeing on a motorbike.
