Veterans reject use of Kosovo war symbols at protest

Kosovo Liberation Army veterans have objected to the use of the wartime force’s name at the protest in Tirana calling for Prime Minister Edi Rama to resign.

Their organisation said no one should use the Kosovo Liberation Army’s legacy for current political interests.

It said the force belonged to Kosovo’s fight for freedom and should be treated with respect.

The group called on protest organisers to stop any false claims made in the name of former fighters or veterans.

The statement comes after debate over whether Dritan Goxhaj, who read the protesters’ demands, had been a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
