Unemployment falls as wages rise

Unemployment in Albania fell to 8.4% in 2025, while average gross monthly wages rose by 8.6%, according to INSTAT data.

The number of people in work reached more than 1.17 million, while the labour force stood at nearly 1.28 million.

Youth unemployment remained much higher than the national rate. Among people aged 15 to 24, it stood at 21.5%.

Women also continued to face a tougher labour market.

The average gross monthly wage rose to 84,112 leks, but men were still paid 4.6% more than women on average.

Services remained Albania’s biggest employer, with nearly half of all workers, while agriculture continued to play a major role in the economy.
