Rama says protesters are targeting people who stay away

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has accused some supporters of the Tirana protests of turning on people who do not join them.

Rama spoke after calls to boycott a concert by Kosovo-Albanian singer Ylli Limani in Tirana.

He called the campaign against Limani “online violence” and said artists, businesses and ordinary citizens were being pressured to take sides.

Rama said people had the right to protest, but not to threaten or shame others for staying out of it.

He also said foreign activists were using the protests to attack US investment in Albania.

Rama warned that the pressure could hurt the country’s image and drive investors away.
