Opposition disrupts parliament session before start

TIRANA— Albania’s parliament was disrupted on Thursday after opposition lawmakers blocked the start of a plenary session by taking seats reserved for government ministers.

The move triggered heated exchanges between the opposition and the ruling majority, with both sides accusing each other of breaking parliamentary rules.

Opposition lawmakers said the action was a protest against recent government decisions.

The ruling bloc called the move an attempt to obstruct parliament and demanded that the session proceed under established rules.

The disruption came ahead of a session scheduled to review several bills and decisions.
