Netanyahu hails Albania’s Holocaust record

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Albania’s record of protecting Jews during the Holocaust as he met Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Jerusalem on Monday.

Netanyahu said Albania was the only European country where the Jewish population grew during World War Two, as Albanians sheltered Jews fleeing Nazi persecution.

He said Albania remains a moral ally of Israel and cited growing ties, including a sharp rise in Israeli tourism and expanding economic cooperation
