TIRANA, Oct. 15 (TemA) — Albania’s opposition Democratic Party has filed a motion in parliament to impeach President Bajram Begaj for what it calls repeated breaches of the constitution.
Gazment Bardhi, head of the party’s parliamentary group, said Wednesday the request includes detailed evidence of “serious and ongoing violations.”
“We submitted today a motion to start impeachment proceedings against President Begaj,” Bardhi told reporters. “Our analysis shows he has committed seven major breaches that undermine constitutional order. He can no longer serve as head of state de jure.”
Bardhi urged parliament to act swiftly and follow constitutional procedures.
