Chief anti-corruption prosecutor rejects political bias

Albania’s top anti-corruption prosecutor has rejected claims that his office is politically biased.

Speaking to parliament on Wednesday, Klodian Braho said his investigators treat all citizens equally under the law. Opposition lawmakers questioned him over possible double standards in high-profile cases. Braho answered that his team relies strictly on evidence and ignores political pressure. He confirmed that his office has already opened 46 criminal investigations into irregularities during the recent elections.

The prosecutor also announced plans to reorganize his investigative team to fight new types of crime. He said the agency is expanding its reach to handle cryptocurrency offenses and international money networks. To meet these goals, the office is working to hire 40 new investigators to fill vacant positions. Braho added that close cooperation with foreign law enforcement partners remains essential to stop criminals who operate outside Albania.
