EU urges return of Serbian judges

The European Union is urging Kosovo and Serbia to allow the return of Serbian judges and prosecutors to northern courts.

More than 130 legal officers quit their jobs in 2022 to protest a government ban on Serbian vehicle license plates.

Kosovo authorities recently demanded an end to the prolonged vacancies, arguing the staff shortages are crippling the justice system.

While Serbian leaders now support reintegrating the workforce, Pristina insists any return must follow strict constitutional rules rather than political deals.
