February 6, 2025 – A new poll has indicated that Albania's ruling Socialist Party is on track to win a majority in the country's general elections set for May 2025. The survey, conducted by MRB-Hellas and Datacentrum between January 15 and 30, asked 1,600 citizens which party they believed would come out on top.
The results of the Euronews Albania Barometer show that 64% of respondents expect the Socialist Party, led by Prime Minister Edi Rama, to secure victory. In contrast, the opposition Democratic Party, headed by Sali Berisha, is predicted to gain just 15.6% of the vote. Smaller parties trail far behind, with Adriatik Lapaj’s “Shqipëria Bëhet” and Agron Shehaj’s “Mundësia” receiving 5.4% and 1.2%, respectively.
Additionally, 2.5% of those surveyed believe other parties will win, while 11.3% of respondents were unsure or chose not to comment.
As Albania heads into a crucial election, this poll sheds light on the current political landscape, with voters signaling strong support for the incumbent government despite challenges in the broader region.
