Six Serbs charged over north Kosovo roadblocks

Kosovo prosecutors have charged six Serbs over roadblocks that shut down parts of the Serb-majority north during a major stand-off in December 2022.

Prosecutors say the suspects helped block main roads for almost three weeks to stop Kosovo police and officials from operating in the area.

The barricades were built with heavy vehicles, including gravel-filled trucks, excavators, buses and ambulances.

The six are accused of taking part in an organised attempt to challenge Kosovo’s constitutional order and block public officials.

The case goes back to one of the sharpest confrontations between Kosovo authorities and local Serbs, many of whom do not accept rule from Pristina.
