Thousands of people set off Wednesday on a 100-kilometer peace march to Srebrenica to mark the anniversary of the 1995 genocide.
The march follows the route used by Bosniak civilians who tried to flee Srebrenica in July 1995 after Bosnian Serb forces overran the U.N.-protected area.
Participants are expected to arrive at the Srebrenica memorial site on July 10. The next day, they will attend the anniversary ceremony and the collective burial of 10 newly identified victims.
More than 8,300 Bosniak men and boys were killed in and around Srebrenica. So far, 6,772 victims have been buried at the memorial site, while more than 1,000 people from the area remain missing.
