The European Parliament said Serbia is falling behind in its EU bid because of setbacks on democracy, rule of law and foreign policy alignment.
In a resolution, lawmakers said accession talks should not move forward unless Serbia aligns with EU sanctions on Russia and shows clear progress on reforms.
They criticized Serbia’s close ties with Russia and China, including military cooperation with Beijing and the purchase of Chinese CM-400 missiles.
The resolution also accused Serbia of serving as a platform for Russian disinformation and intelligence activity in the Western Balkans.
The vote comes as EU member states discuss whether to move ahead with Serbia’s accession talks. European Parliament resolutions are not binding.
