Kosovo prosecution body rejects return of five Serb prosecutors

Kosovo’s prosecution oversight body has rejected requests from five ethnic Serb prosecutors and 15 support workers to return to their jobs.

They resigned in November 2022 during a wider withdrawal of Serbs from Kosovo’s police, courts and other state institutions in the north.

The council rejected their requests by four votes to three and sent the prosecutors’ names for formal dismissal.

It also ended an earlier suspension of salaries for the prosecutors and support staff.

Kosovo police has separately said that Serb officers who resigned during the 2022 walkout will not be allowed to return.
