Airbnb and Booking may have to report income in Albania

Booking, Airbnb and other digital platforms would have to report users’ earnings to Albania’s tax authorities under a draft law targeting undeclared income.

The rules would cover short-term property rentals, transport services and goods sold through websites and apps.

Platforms would submit seller and income data once a year, by January 31.

Tax authorities would also exchange information with European Union countries to identify income earned through platforms based abroad.

The law would take effect on January 1, 2029. The first reports would be filed in 2030.
