Social security revenue up 10.9% in first half

Social security contributions reached 93.9 billion leks in the first six months of 2026, up 10.9% from 84.7 billion leks in the same period last year, Tax Administration data shows.

The increase stems from greater formalization, wage growth, and reduced under-declaration, authorities said. Improved revenue creates room for pension reform, with a new scheme expected soon.

The government recently approved a 5,000-leks summer bonus for pensioners.
