Russian drone crashes into apartment block in NATO member Romania

A Russian drone has hit an apartment building in Romania, a NATO member state, during overnight attacks near the border with Ukraine.

Romania's defence ministry said the drone entered Romanian airspace before crashing into the roof of a ten-storey residential building in the eastern city of Galați.

Two people were slightly injured and a fire broke out, according to emergency services.

Romania called the incident a serious escalation and said it had informed NATO allies.

NATO condemned what it described as Russia's irresponsible actions and said it would strengthen protection against drone threats.
