The number of flights in Albania grew by 30.2 percent this June compared to the same month last year. This growth is much higher than the European Union average, which was only 2.1 percent.
Official data shows Albania had the second-highest flight growth in all of Europe, behind only Slovakia at 40.3 percent. In the Balkans, Albania was far ahead of neighboring Montenegro, which saw an 18 percent increase.
More tourists and new cheap flight routes are driving the boom. At the same time, flight numbers actually went down in bigger European countries like Germany, Austria, and Iceland.
