Trump in China to meet Xi on Ukraine, Iran and trade

Donald Trump is in China with Secretary of State Marco Rubio to meet President Xi Jinping, discussing the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, and a potential trade deal between the US and China.

Ahead of the trip, Trump told reporters he did not see a need for NATO support against Iran, claiming the US had already defeated the Islamic Republic militarily. He added that Chinese help would not be required to end the conflict.

Trump praised Xi as “an extraordinary leader” and said he would seek cooperation between US and Chinese experts to strengthen China’s development. He also attacked media reports suggesting Iran was gaining a military advantage, calling them false and misleading.
