Russian drones were reported over Kyiv in the early hours of Tuesday, soon after a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine expired.
Timur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv’s military administration, told residents to stay in shelters until the air alert was lifted. He said one drone had hit an apartment building in the Obolonskyi district.
It was the first air alert in the Ukrainian capital since 8 May, when the brief truce began.
Both sides had already accused each other of breaking the ceasefire. Ukraine said Russia launched drone attacks in the east. Moscow said Ukrainian forces struck targets in Russia’s Belgorod region.
